The Little Pocket are offering a school holiday activity program to fill a need of more activities for children in our community. We have engaged with local knowledge, skills and talents to encourage connections and sense of belonging, to bring creative and physical offerings for our local school children.

Part of participants' fees are subsidised by GCCC Division 9 Community Discretionary Grant Program and Public Health Network Community Grant.
Swords and Shields
Week 1
Monday 27th June
10am-12pm
Location: Tennis Club
This school activity is for children 8yrs+
Design, paint and accessorise your own wooden sword and shield.
Kids choose from a pre- made wood shield design and a mini-sword. Each child gets to paint their shields as they wish, with an option to add a pre made design and edging on finish. Kids choose their swords' handle colour and can add details such as gems or studs.
Structured games and knighting will follow once you've completed your wooden sword and shield.
Things to bring:
• paint smock/clothes
• morning tea/lunch
• water bottle

tie dying
Week 2
Monday 4th July

Location: Tennis Club
Tie dye a bag using eco dyes and learn how to do patterns and shapes.
Things to bring:
• Paint smock/clothes/apron
• Feel free to bring another one item to dye.
• Please ensure it is white cotton
• morning tea/lunch water bottle

Biodegradable Pots
Week 1
Tuesday 28th June

Location: Syd Duncan Park
All ages.
Learn how to make biodegradable pot plants
Make biodegradable newspaper pots by recycling toilet rolls and newspaper to pot up a native ground cover plant to take home.
Things to bring:
• morning tea/lunch
• water bottle
Parents are required to stay with their children during this activity.

Week 2
Wednesday 6th July

Location: Binna Burra
Enjoy a guided family bush walk of our local rainforest
Enjoy a short guided family bush walk of the caves circuit to talk of caves heritage, shelter, fire and regeneration.
Things to bring:
• Appropriate bushwalking clothing
• morning tea/lunch
• water bottle

Skateboarding
Week 1
Thursday 30th June
9am-12pm
Location: Syd Duncan Park
(half court)
Learn the basic fundamentals of balance and riding a skateboard.
Kids will be taught the basic fundamentals of riding a skateboard. Including, but not limited, to general balancing and turning, cruising, tick tac, ollies.
Things to bring:
• Kids must bring their own helmet, shoes and • skateboard. Knee/elbow pads optional.

This activity is for children 5yrs+ and is a drop off activity if you choose. If you wish to drop off your child please contact littlepocketnatureplay@gmail.com for paperwork that needs to be completed before the activity date.

cartooning workshop
Week 2
Friday 8th July
10am-12pm
Location: Tennis Court
Enter the world of comic art! From designing your own comic characters to creating a scene and/or one page sequence. This workshop is designed to allow kids to choose the area they wish to explore… and go for it! Will include some staple techniques such as linework, shading and colour balance, all taught in a fun and accessible way.
